Summer School

The Five Acres School was founded in 1981 as a Non-Public School (NPS) and is certified (#19-64881-6917199) and WASC accredited offering highly specialized instruction to students grades K-8 eligible for Special Education Services in the areas of Emotional Disturbance, Learning Disabilities, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Mild Mental Retardation, High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorders and Asperger Syndrome. Our 50-day summer school program offers an academic track and a social skills track. Class starts June 19, 2009 for the 2009 Summer Session.

Our Academic Enrichment Program includes California standards based instruction in a calm, nurturing and highly academic environment. Instruction is highly to meet individual and special needs individualized with a 1 to 4 teacher student ratio. Our hands-on learning focus, experienced staff and use of Smart Boards, combination white board and computer, provide energizing presentations that engage and motivate students to reach their highest potential.

A social and recreational program offering a 1 to 4 staff to child ratio designed to help children develop social skills within a nurturing environment. It is a structured, consistent and fun program that incorporates behavioral supports in which children experience structured activity blocks incorporating:

Social recreation
Social skills curriculum
Cooking, music, arts & crafts activities
Large and small group activities
Computer usage / access to technology
Outdoor activities utilizing our large on-campus field that includes a pool, basketball courts, handball courts, softball diamond and play structures
